Why Hillside?
Hillside School is an independent boarding and day school for middle school boys, grades 5 through 9. Founded in 1901, Hillside is situated on over 200 acres of fields, forest, and ponds in Marlborough, Massachusetts, less than a mile from the intersection of routes 495 and 290 (30 miles from Boston; 70 miles from Hartford, Connecticut and Providence, Rhode Island; and 3½ hours from New York City).
The School's mission is to help young adolescent boys develop in their formative years. Our students gain academic and social skills while building confidence and maturity.
Program highlights include a student teacher ratio of 6:1, academic and social skills tutorials, a working farm and farm curriculum, and wonderful cultural opportunities in Boston.
We seek not only boys of average to above-average intelligence who are looking for a supportive, structured school, but also students who have been underachieving in other school settings. Hillside's students matriculate at leading independent secondary boarding or day schools as well as local parochial and public high schools.
