Wrestling team shows progress

The Wrestling team won its first match of the year, winning 10 out of 15 matches against Worcester Academy on December 11.
The team looked confident and exceeded their own expectations. Great wins were recorded by Nick Goguen 13, Alex Lin 11, Justin Karas 11, Chris Zarba 13, and Edward Kim 13. Hunter Cochran 11 completed a technical fall, beating his opponent 15-0, while Charlie Tillet 12, Ho Bin Kim 12, and Napoleon Sylvester 13 each pinned his opponent.
Chris Zarba 13 and Napoleon Sylvester 13 took home the guts award for excellent first matches.
Hillside faces Rectory on December 15
The Wrestling Bulldogs competed well against a very tough Rectory squad on Tuesday, December 15. The coaches were impressed by the teams improvement and toughness.
Four Hillsiders came away with victories: Napoleon Sylvester 13 won his second match of the year with a nice 5-0 victory. Charlie Tillet 12 and Thomas Alvarez 10 both came up on the positive end of 8-1 scores. Meanwhile, Justin Karas 11 earned a pin in his second match of the night after executing a perfect "Fireman's Carry" to take down his opponent.
Two final notables: Edward Kim 11 gave a strong performance in a tough 5-7 loss against a quality opponent. Chris Zarba 13 won the guts award for the second meet in a row in which he demonstrated toughness, an unwillingness to give up, and an all-out effort on the mat.
