What are student drop-off and pick-up times?
  • The morning drop-off window (Monday through Friday) is from 7:50-8:20am at the ATL. Classes begin at 8:30am sharp.
  • The afternoon pick-up window (Monday through Friday, unless otherwise specified on the Hillside School calendar) is from 5:00-5:30pm at the ATL, although sometimes teams with away games return later (see next question).
  • Sundays: Boarding students who have gone home (or to a friend’s house) for the weekend are expected to return between 3:45 and 4:15pm, unless other arrangements have been made. The houses are open during this time, but will close promptly at 4:20pm when the boys are expected to go to Study Hall. In the case of a change in plan during the weekend, please call the Administrator on Duty at (508) 868-7794.
How do we know if a sports team will be late returning from a game?

Ms. Lalley does her best to give estimated times of return for each away game. If in doubt, and after 5pm, please call the Administrator on Duty at (508) 868-7794.

On average how much homework should I expect my child to have each night?
  • 4th, 5th, and 6th graders – 1 hour per night
  • 7th, 8th, and 9th graders - 1 ½ hours per night
Are there any items that students are not allowed to have at school during the academic week?

Is my son allowed to bring items with wheels to school?

Yes, wheeled vehicles are permitted during designated times in designated areas on campus. Helmets are required when riding any wheeled vehicle around campus. Students must register their wheeled vehicle with Mr. Evans when it is brought to school.

What events are all students required to attend during the year?

Attendance at the following events is required for all students during the year. Families are also encouraged to attend these events.

  • Fall Family Friday
  • Fall Term Awards Ceremony
  • Winter Term Awards Ceremony
  • Spring Term Awards Ceremony and Prize Day Ceremony
  • Graduation
What is the "formal" dress and when are the students required to wear it?

At each of the Awards Ceremonies and at Graduation, students are required to wear formal attire: blue blazer, gray pants, and white shirt along with a tie (of choice), belt, socks, and dress shoes.
