With great anticipation, the varsity baseball team suited up and traveled to Pike School for its first game of the season. The team came out strong and in the top of the first, the Bulldogs loaded the bases for Luke Benoit ’13 who promptly responded with a base-clearing triple. In a game that went back and forth, the Bulldogs never relinquished the lead and finished victorious, 13-9. Luke Benoit and Noah Strawn ’14 split time on the pitching mound and finished the game with five strikeouts. The Bulldogs slugged ten hits on the day and Benoit, Matt Gray 14’, and Sam Pirozzi ’12, each had two hits apiece.

Although the result was promising and it was also nice to get the opening day jitters out, the team has much to improve upon as they face fellow J.B.S.A powerhouse, Fessenden, next Thursday, April 19th.
