2016 Summer Reading

The magic of readingHillside’s summer reading is designed to complement our academic program’s commitment to reading.  Your role in encouraging this habit – perhaps by giving your son a small Amazon.com account or extending bedtime for reading – can make a lasting difference in his intellectual growth.

Over the course of the summer, each boy is assigned to read three summer reading books and to submit a short assignment no later than Friday, August 26th to Ms. Hallie Lord  (hlord@hillsideschool.net).  In addition to one required book from the "Class Lists" each student must also read at least two other books of his choice, either from the listed suggestions, or a choice of their own.  There is no written assignment for these additional books.  All we ask is that, by that same deadline, you and your son submit a list of all of the books that he has read.

More specific instructions are included in the various links below.  These Reading Lists indicate required reading for each grade and additional suggested reading books appropriate for your son's grade level, with a brief description of each book.

We hope you have an enjoyable summer.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions along the way.

Sincerely,

Monica Lucey
