Affording Hillside

A Hillside education is a significant and fulfilling investment.

Hillside students prepare themselves for lives of meaning and purpose, embracing the school's core values of compassion, determination, honesty, respect and brotherhood throughout their Hillside career and beyond.

We’ve had an amazing first year at Hillside and we feel so lucky to be part of the community. The teachers are just outstanding and make an incredible effort to connect with our child and our family. They are responsive and routinely make themselves available. We feel very supported and cared for by all of our child’s teachers and they are incredibly dedicated to the work. They understand the whole child and appreciate the child’s strengths as well as their vulnerabilities in order to promote growth. Their dedication and enthusiasm inspire the children.

Financial Aid

For over a century, Hillside has been committed to providing an exceptional amount of financial aid, which makes up the difference between what a family can afford and the costs of tuition, fees and boarding (if applicable).
Currently, financial aid makes it possible for approximately 30% of our students, from a wide range of backgrounds, to attend Hillside. Financial assistance is need-based and administered by the Office of Admission & Financial Aid to ensure that as many accepted students can feasibly attend Hillside as possible.

Applying For Financial Aid

Hillside encourages eligible families to apply for financial aid. Awarded aid is reviewed on an annual basis for families that show a demonstrated need. Returning students must also be in good academic and social standing to remain eligible.

As part of this process, families should expect to do the following:

  1. Speak with a member of our Admission Team for a full overview of the process.
  2. Visit sss.nais.org to complete the Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS). Note that you can fill out one PFS for all schools to which your son is applying. Our code is 3908.
  3. For help with the online application, consult the PFS instructions offered on sss.nais.org or contact their toll-free helpline at (800) 344-8328.
  4. The SSS (School & Student Services) process should be completed no later than February 1st. Additionally, applicants for financial aid should plan to file their taxes as early as possible.
