Admissions Process

The first step towards admission consideration is to fill out an online inquiry form and provide us with some basic information. Please note, all of the information you enter in the inquiry will pre-populate the application form.

Once you complete the inquiry form, your email address (once activated) will give you access to our Parent Portal. After completing the inquiry form, a member of our Admission team will let you know your email is now active and you may now access the Parent Portal to create your password. After creating your password, you can log into the Parent Portal to complete the Application Checklist (see Step 3 - Apply). All of these steps will be completed directly online through the Parent Portal.

To apply to Hillside School, please complete all of the steps listed below. Completion of all Application Materials will be submitted electronically through the Parent Portal with your email address and password.

APPLICATION FORM

All prospective families must complete an Application for Admission, and submit the application fee.

TRANSCRIPT

A current copy of the applicant’s transcript (for the current and previous school year) should be requested from your son's school and submitted through the Parent Portal.

MATH AND ENGLISH RECOMMENDATIONS

Recommendations from the applicant’s most recent Math and English teachers are required. Through the Parent Portal, you will send the teacher(s) an email directly requesting the recommendations.

WRITING SAMPLE

Each applicant is required to submit a graded writing sample through the Parent Portal.

PARENT STATEMENT

Parents must provide a statement about their son. Please describe your son's strengths and areas of challenges along with your goals for your son while attending Hillside School. This information will eventually be shared with your son's academic advisor.

STANDARDIZED TESTING (optional) 

Hillside School requires copies of an applicant’s most recent standardized testing. For the seventh, eighth, and ninth grades, acceptable tests include the SSAT, ISEE, or WISC. Hillside accepts, but does not require, any current standardized testing for fourth, fifth and sixth grades but we do encourage families to submit MCAS or other standardized testing if available.

INTERVIEW AND CAMPUS TOURS

The admission office regularly conducts tours and in-person interviews. We invite all prospective students and families to visit our beautiful campus in Marlborough, Massachusetts to meet with one of our admission counselors. We also are able to accommodate those families who are unable to visit campus by offering Zoom interviews; however, an on-campus visit is preferred. Please contact the Admission Office at (508) 485-3483 or by email to schedule your interview.

In order for our non-English speaking students to experience the maximum immersion into our English speaking community and American culture, we only offer a 5-day or 7-day boarding program. We do not offer a day student option for non-English speaking students.

For more information on registration, test dates, and locations, please visit the TOEFL Junior website.
