Innovation Starts Here
On the inside, the facility is equipped with brand-new classrooms and an Innovation Lab (iLab). Designed with K–3 students in mind, the lower school iLab is a designated space for innovation, creativity, and problem-solving. Students think independently, collaborate to achieve their goals, and bring their ideas to life in a space tailored to their imaginations. Whether they are engineering with LEGOs or MAGNA-TILES, creating with playdough, or building their skills with age-appropriate technology, students will engage in project-based learning that sparks curiosity and builds confidence.
Classroom without Walls
On the outside, nestled alongside the Lower School building, the farm offers an immersive learning environment that blends a rigorous academic program with meaningful, hands-on education. Hillside recognizes the critical role that structured playtime has in early-childhood development, from cognitive growth and physical coordination to executive function skills and language development. While it is in the early stages of design and development, there will be a playground for school-aged students to enjoy during their morning break and afternoon recess.

Through authentic, experiential activities that connect classroom concepts to the real world, students develop both academic skills and social-emotional growth in a setting that is as innovative as it is educational. The lower school is a LEED-certified green building, a reflection of Hillside’s commitment to sustainability and priority to create spaces that demonstrate excellence in design, construction, operations, and maintenance. Beyond its environmental benefits, the state-of-the-art facility supports student wellbeing through abundant natural light and energy-efficient systems. The thoughtfully designed elements, such as the floor-to-ceiling windows, shape the very spaces where your student will learn and grow. Surrounded by open fields, fresh air, and Hillside’s working farm, our youngest learners experience the wonder of discovery both in the classroom and outdoors through hands-on learning and individualized support.
Proud to Be an IB World School
In June 2025, Hillside became a certified International Baccalaureate (IB) World School for the Middle Years Programme (MYP). The Lower School at Hillside will offer a dynamic and student-centered learning experience as we undergo the authorization process to become an IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), designed for students from Kindergarten to Grade 5. By aligning our curriculum with the PYP framework, we are committed to fostering inquiry-based learning, promoting international-mindedness, and developing the whole child. This pursuit reflects our dedication to providing a high-quality, holistic education that prepares students to thrive in a diverse and interconnected world.
